The Ramblings of a Redneck Diva

I'm a survivor
Albeit a bruised survivor.

Just wanted to drop a quick line letting everyone know I am alive and fine and all my bones are still intact. I know you all lost sleep last night worrying about your diva, but sleep now, my children, momma's fine.

My legs are wicked sore from bracing against hits, (we estimated about 50 hits in two heats) my arms are a little sore and my neck is only sore when I tilt it way back (like to wash my hair - OW!). My chest however is in serious bad shape. Last night by 11 I had a bruise beginning at my left collar bone. This morning I have one on the inside of my right breast. Now it's just a matter of playing "connect the bruises" to form one gigantic diagonal line from left shoulder, across right breast to right ribcage. It's gonna be purty, I'm sure of that. And tender! YOWIE. Abby has been so lovey today and every time her head whacks into my chest it just takes my breath away. I spit dirt for an hour after the derby last night and am still blowing dirt boogers from my nose this morning. Hey, you can't make this crap up, people.

Well, I'm off to take a nap, aided by a hefty dose of Aleve. Trust me, I will post pictures of the derby and the car afterwards tomorrow. Today's priority is sleep and then a trip to WalMart to get groceries. The kids seem to think we need food in the house...geez.

Glad you made it through! Sounds like you had a good time though!

Glad to see you made it in one piece. I am only sad that the car didn't have a picture of a DIVA on it (instead of a lawn gnome). If I lived near ya, I would have given you a proper redneck diva, but hey, can't go flying across the U.S. on a whim (or maybe I can?)

Anyway, sounds like you had fun. Be sure to post pictures. I always loved Demo Derby, but they don't have them anymore around here.

Did you race this weekend? You'll have to post how you did. I am in the military, stationed in Germany. I googled "demolition derby" and your blog is one of the pages that came up. While I was originally looking for demo stuff, Ive enjoyed reading your other stuff as well. Guess you can call me fan #3. What's gotten my attention so much as since you've ran the 1st derby, you're ready for more.. as opposed to saying "been there, done that..."

I've got my wife almost convinced in running a demo with me, but then we're in Germany (no demos here) so for the moment it's all talk and no action for now. She's only witnessed one in Montana a few years back from the stands, but unlike my few thousand wrecks I've been in, she has no idea what she's in for... ...

Keep writing and I'll check back from time to time. Maybe some day we'll return from Europe to our old lives (her = montana, me = Ga) so I'm sure we'll fit in. But for now, we'll enjoy our time here, do what's asked of us, and keep thinking about the small things we miss from the states.
